Featuring: Speak Lord

"Then Samuel said, 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.'” 1 Samuel 3:10b

God is always speaking, through the Holy Spirt, through his word (the Bible), through people, through situations. The only issue is are we listening?

In 1 Kings 19:11-13, Elijah needed to hear from the Lord. In this story we found that God sent a powerful wind, an earthquake and a fire, but God was not speaking in those things. Then there was a gentle whisper and it says that God was in the whisper. If Elijah was not listening closely, he would have missed God speaking in the whisper.

The world is loud, our desire to hear from the Lord needs to be louder. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you hear, then be open and ready to receive. It is like a muscle, the more you spend time with the Lord, the more you work that listening ear, the more you learn how God speaks to you. You will hear your Father’s voice and know it. It takes time to work that muscle, so keep at it, knowing that God wants to speak to you, therefore he will sustain you through the process. Remember that everything the devil wants to offer you is a counterfeit to what God has for you. But the only way to be prepared to know the difference is to learn the voice of your Father, God in heaven.

It all starts with a "Speak Lord, I am listening."
